Zoom Presentation - Archetypes and Ecologies Psyche’s Natural Habitats with Brian Clark

As a Swiss I am an inveterate democrat, yet I recognize that Nature is arsitocratic and, what is even more, esoteric

CGJung (CW 11: 537)

Domesticity, rationality and urbanity suppress the mystery of Nature, within and without. Our psychic interiority becomes disciplined, discoloured and dulled as our sensory perceptions become accustomed to the rational and inanimate networks that envelop us. These inorganic environments leave us disembodied and dislocated from psyche’s wild terrain, its natural habitats, and our animal selves. Like outer ecosystems, inner habitats have become civilized, subduing our own wildness as Jung reminded us. All around us is evidence that we are disengaged from our natural world, including our psychic nature. This lecture reflects on our disconnection from the wild and the necessity for its restoration.

Brian Clark has been an astrological consultant and educator for his adult life (www.astrosynthesis.com.au). Hs work has always been informed by the ambiguous nature of symbols and the subtlety of the soul. This is the focus of his latest book Soul, Symbol and Imagination the Artistry of Astrology. Brian has his BA (Hons) and MA in Classics and Archaeology from the University of Melbourne.
